Church of Archangel Michael in Ryazantsevo

Фото 1
The village of Ryazantsevo is located 21 versts from the district town and 100 versts from the provincial capital. In the land books of 1628 and 1629, there is mention of the church "Cathedral of Archangel Michael," built of wood and belonging to the landowners. Information on how long it existed has not survived, but documents from 1799 indicate a wooden church in the name of Archangel Michael, built by the parishioners, with a wooden bell tower.

In 1811, a stone church was built on the site of the wooden church, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, with a similar bell tower. In 1890, the refectory part of the church was renovated and expanded. The church has two altars: a cold one in the name of Archangel Michael and a warm one in honor of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos.

The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. Among the priestly vestments, there are velvet robes embroidered with gold, which were donated by landowner Pavel Petrovich Svinin during the consecration of the stone church.

Church documents are preserved in full: copies of the metric books since 1802 and confession lists since 1828. According to the clergy's staff, there is a priest and a psalmist. Their income consists of: from arable and haymaking land up to 150 rubles, from services and needs up to 450 rubles, from bread collection up to 100 rubles, totaling 700 rubles per year. The houses of the priest and psalmist are located on church land and are their property.

Since 1893, a church-parish school has been operating in the village.
