In the early 17th century, the village of Lazarevo on the Ilinka River was an ancient estate of the Murovsky district elder Druzhina Yuryev and his brothers. According to the clerical books of 1629 and 1630, there were already two wooden churches in the village: one in honor of the righteous Lazarus, the other, of Archangel Michael. Two priests, a deacon, and two sextons served at the churches. The church lands were modest, with 20 quarters of arable land and 40 stacks of hay. The village had the estate of the landowners and 10 peasant households.

According to the revenue books of 1676, there was a church of Archangel Michael in Lazarevo with the estate of priest Ilarion and the sextons. The village had three landowner estates, 15 peasant households, and one landless household. The parish included the villages of Podbolotnaya, Krivitsy, Rastuiva, and Maximovka, as well as the mills of Zhemchuzhina, Podbolotskaya, Antipina, and Potechina.

In June 1806, the widow of Major Pelageya Artemyevna Bychkova appealed to Bishop Ksenofont for permission to build a stone church in the name of Archangel Michael with funds bequeathed by Major Ivan Grigoryevich Darovsky and her husband Lev Ivanovich Bychkov. The old wooden church and bell tower were planned to be dismantled for brick firing, while services were to be temporarily held in the church of Saint Lazarus. Permission was granted on July 17, 1806.

In July 1808, the bishop allowed the transfer of the antimins and vestments from the old Lazarevo church to the new chapel of Saint Lazarus. The dilapidated church was used for brick firing. The construction of the new church was completed in July 1808. According to the report of the archpriest Agap Trofimov dated August 11, 1808, the church was provided with everything necessary, including books, vessels, and vestments. The iconostasis of the Nikolsky chapel contained icons of the Lord Almighty and Saint Nicholas, as well as other holy relics.

In the cold Archangel church, a tomb was arranged over the resting place of the righteous Juliana of Lazarevo. According to the handwritten life, her son Kalistrat Osoryin buried the saint in an oak coffin on January 10, 1605, near the church of Saint Lazarus.

In 1889, a new tomb was created from cypress wood with gilded and silvered copper. The lid of the tomb depicted the Lord Sabaoth, and on the sides, scenes from the life of Juliana. The tomb contained an icon of the saint, but by the end of the 19th century, her relics were no longer there.

The church was closed in 1933 and used as a village club. Restoration work began in 2000. Since 2013, the church has become an Archdiocesan courtyard and was surrounded by a brick fence.
