In 1885, the abbot's building was constructed at the Diveevo Monastery, which the Father called the administrative building. It was erected on the site indicated on the plan made by St. Seraphim and kept in the monastery. The building housed the archbishop's quarters, the abbess's cells, the treasurer's office, the dean's office, the chancery, a library, and rooms for making artificial flowers.
In 1902, a domestic church was arranged for the sick abbess Maria Ushakova in the eastern part of the building, accommodating up to 50 people. The church was consecrated in honor of St. Mary Magdalene, the heavenly patroness of the abbess.
In 1903, Emperor Nicholas II, the Empress, and members of the Royal House attended a liturgy in this church after the glorification of St. Seraphim in Sarov. This event became an important milestone in the history of the monastery. In memory of it, an icon of the Royal Martyrs was placed in the iconostasis of the renovated church.
After the monastery was closed, the church was desecrated. The abbot's building was initially used for the Diveevo orphanage, and later for various institutions and apartments.
In the summer of 1996, the facade was repaired and the dome over the domestic church in honor of St. Mary Magdalene was restored. On September 27, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, a cross was installed on the dome. In 1997, work began inside the church. In 1996, a general education monastery Orthodox school was opened. On September 26, 2000, the relics of the Venerable Alexandra, Martha, and Elena of Diveevo were discovered, and on December 22, they were glorified as locally venerated saints of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese.
The church was re-consecrated on February 3, 2006.
