The Church of the Icon of the Mother of God Odigitria is one of the churches located within the Rostov Archbishop's Court in the Rostov Kremlin. It was built in 1692-1693, slightly later than other buildings in the ensemble, during the tenure of Metropolitan Joasaph, who succeeded Jonah Sysoevich. The church is designed in the Moscow Baroque style and is the last independent structure within the Archbishop's Court.

The church is located in the northwestern corner of the Rostov Kremlin and adjoins the wall surrounding the courtyard. Construction took place after the Kremlin walls were completed. The building has a rectangular shape, extending from east to west, and consists of two floors, with only the upper floor used as a church. An open balcony surrounds the second floor, distinguishing it from other churches in Rostov, which typically have galleries. The exterior walls of the church are adorned with painting imitating diamond rustication, creating a relief effect that was added significantly after the building was constructed.

The interior of the Odigitria Church is noticeably different from other Rostov structures. The vaults and walls feature 20 unusually shaped stucco cartouches, which were painted immediately after construction. By the mid-19th century, when the Archbishop's Court was in decline, the condition of the paintings deteriorated, and in 1912, in anticipation of Nicholas II's visit to Rostov, they were restored. Between 1920 and 1950, the walls of the church along with the cartouches were whitewashed, which severely damaged the paintings. In 2001 and 2003, they were uncovered and restored.

The use of the church building has changed over time. In 1966, according to a decree from the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR to establish an International Camp in the Rostov Kremlin, the Church of Odigitria was transferred to the camp along with other facilities. After the camp ceased operations the same year, the church came under the management of the Rostov Museum-Reserve. Since 2009, a museum exhibition titled "Gold and Azure Shine" has been opened on the second floor of the church, while the museum's administration is located on the first floor.
