In the early 19th century, the estate of the Attorney General A.A. Vyazemsky was located in Tsarevshchina, who built a stone Orthodox church with a bell tower in 1801. The church had two altars: one in honor of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky, and the other, of Saint Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica. The houses for the clergy were communal. Later, the estate was acquired by Count Nesselrode.

Tsarevshchina was also called Dmitrievskoye, probably due to one of the church's altars or in honor of the new owner, under whom the village began to prosper. According to data from 1862, Tsarevshchina had 180 households and 1,507 residents. The village had a hospital, an iron foundry, a brick factory, and two distilleries, a sawmill, and two mills. Animal husbandry, especially sheep breeding, was well developed.

The village was part of the Volsky district of the Saratov province and was the center of the Tsarevshchina volost with a single peasant community. In the early 1890s, Count A.D. Nesselrode moved to his estate in Tsarevshchina, where he gathered one of the best libraries in Russia, containing over forty thousand volumes. Under him, an orphanage, a school, and a school for peasant children opened in the village. By the beginning of World War I, the population of the village reached 2,546 people, most of whom were Russian Orthodox, and about 400 were non-Popovtsy.

During the Civil War, the village suffered greatly from fires, in which the count's estate and a significant part of the library burned down. In the 1920s, the collective farm "12 Years of the Red Army" was established, and a poultry farm and a distillery began to operate. The local church was closed and destroyed in the 1930s.

In 2005, with the blessing of Bishop Longin of Saratov and Volsk, a parish in honor of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky was established in the village of Tsarevshchina. At the request of the believers, the village administration allocated a space for worship. After the necessary repairs were completed, a church was equipped there. In 2005, the rite of placing the Antimension took place in the church, and the first Divine Liturgy was held.
