More than four hundred years ago, a wooden church dedicated to Pope Clement stood on this site. In 1635, it burned down and was rebuilt, but a few years later it suffered from fire again. The parishioners then decided to construct a stone church, raised funds, and hired a team of stonemasons.

The exact year of the start of construction is unknown, but by 1688 the walls were already erected, and work was in full swing. The church was decorated with great skill and love, partially imitating the masters of the Trinity Cathedral while adding their own elements. The teams of stonemasons competed, striving to outdo each other in decorating the church, resulting in two architectural masterpieces located nearby.

When construction was completed, the wooden roof and domes, covered with shingles, suffered from fire again. Throughout the next 18th century, the church burned and was restored about ten times, but thanks to the wealth of the Epiphany Church parish, the restoration proceeded quickly.

The bell tower of the Epiphany Church had 16 bells, the largest of which were gifts from merchant-salt producers, as confirmed by records in church books.

The Epiphany Church remained active until 1933 when it, like many others, was planned to be closed. On December 6, 1933, the director of the museum located in the Trinity Cathedral and the Voivode's House appealed to the Committee for the Protection of Historical Monuments, and in 1934 the church was transferred to the museum. However, before the transfer, the bells were still removed, but the interior decoration was preserved, including the only iconostasis in the city.

In 1943, by decision of the Moscow Patriarchate and with Stalin's consent, it was allowed to reopen several churches, and services resumed in the Epiphany Church in Solikamsk. The church operated until 1962, and many residents of Solikamsk remember the services in this church, where they were married, baptized, confessed, and received communion.

In 1962, the church was closed again and transferred to the museum. It housed a nature department and a planetarium, where sessions on astronomy and space exploration were held.
