The Znamen District Local History Museum was established in 1992 by the decision of the Administration of the Znamen District. It is located in a 19th-century manor house that belonged to the "Znamenko" estate of the Zagryazhskys-Strugans.

The museum houses over 13,000 exhibits reflecting the history and culture of the Znamen District. Among the most significant collections are numismatic, ethnographic, visual arts, and decorative-applied arts. Many of these items are unique. Today, the museum plays an important role in preserving, studying, and popularizing the historical and cultural heritage of the district. It organizes exhibitions dedicated to the past and present of the region annually, attracting over 12,000 visitors. The museum has developed educational programs for various audiences and engages in research and methodological activities.

The main exhibitions of the museum introduce guests to the history of the region, its natural conditions, and the traditional culture of both modern residents and our ancestors. The main building of the museum features multi-level exhibitions that serve as a basis for working with different categories of visitors: "Where Natalya Was Born," "Workshop of the 20th Century. Painting," "Archaeological Past of the Region in the 12th and 13th Centuries. And Became a Station on Onuz," "Fragment of the Interior of Peasant Life. 19th Century," "Fragment of the Interior of a Doctor's Life in the 19th and Early 20th Century," "Tragedy and Heroism. 20th Century."

In 2004 and 2012, the Alexandrovsky branch and the Museum of the History of the Village of Vorontsovka joined the Znamen District Local History Museum.
