The Volkonsky lanes leading to Samotychny Boulevard once descended to the Samotyetsky Pond, formed by the Neglinka River. They were named after local homeowners. In 1760, there was a estate of Captain Prince Pyotr Fedorovich Volkonsky, and later his son, Prince Mikhail Petrovich, on what is now 1st Volkonsky Lane. In the upper part of 2nd Volkonsky Lane, an elegant two-story house stands out, featuring a three-windowed mezzanine and a semicircular window on the pediment, adorned with stucco wreaths and floral ornamentation. This mansion was built in the 18th century and in 1800 belonged to merchant Nikolai Martynovich Guzhevsky. The Guzhevsky family moved here from the steep bank of the Neglinka from Chisty Lane, located near Prechistenka. In the 19th century, 2nd Volkonsky Lane was called Guzhevsky.

In the 1800s, the mansion was rebuilt, and after 1812, it was renovated again according to the project of the Commission on the Construction of Moscow, which was restoring the city after Napoleon's invasion. At that time, the building received an Empire-style decorative finish on its facades. By the end of the 19th century, the estate passed to State Councillor Nikolai Pavlovich Pospelov, who worked in the office of the Moscow Governor-General. In 1900, a two-story wooden house on a stone semi-basement was built according to the design of architect A. E. Sergeyev, decorated with carved window frames.

This house became famous thanks to the film "Guest from the Future," shot in 1984 by director P. O. Arsenov based on the story by Kir Bulychov "One Hundred Years Ahead." It served as a temporary shelter for space pirates. Unfortunately, the wooden house was demolished in 2005, and an office center now stands in its place. However, the main house of the Guzhevskys and Pospelov has been preserved. During the Soviet era, it housed communal apartments. It is now a monument of architecture, protected as a cultural heritage site of regional significance.
