The house was built in the 1780s-1790s in the style of early classicism. In 1812, like many other buildings in Moscow, it suffered greatly from a fire and was partially dismantled. In the 1820s, the estate house was restored on the original foundation and in the same dimensions. Possibly, two stone chambers with barrel vaults, located in the southwestern part of the first floor, have survived from the original structure. At this time, the two-story building in the Empire style acquired the appearance that has mostly been preserved to this day. The facade is divided by pilasters into 10 parts, with the center highlighted by a pediment with four axes. Above the windows of the first floor are decorative fan-shaped locks, and above the windows of the second floor, medallions with ribbons.

In 1838, the house became the property of the noble family of Maikovs, who owned it until 1906. Among the notable owners was the Slavist, chamberlain of the highest court, actual state councilor, and chamberlain Apollon Alexandrovich Maikov, a cousin of the poet Apollon Nikolaevich Maikov.

In the second half of the 19th century, the house acquired numerous stone extensions from the garden side. In 1908, a reorganization of the first floor took place, where the pharmacy of Rusekov, the store of Baibekov, and the dairy of Titov with tenant apartments were located.

After 1917, the building housed a hospital of the Dzerzhinsky district. During the Soviet era, internal reorganization was carried out, the mezzanines were removed, and small extensions were added. In 2006 and 2009, restoration and adaptation works were carried out. It was raised to the original height of the plinth, about 80 cm, as the house had 'grown' into the cultural layer. This decision was necessary since the building is surrounded by large constructions of the 20th century and is detached from the historical scale. During the restoration, the appearance of the monument from the Empire period of the early 19th century was recreated, highlighting elements from the 1780s.
