One of the notable landmarks of pre-revolutionary Azov is the old post office building, constructed in 1908. At that time, it was located on the outskirts of the city, and today it is part of the historical center, from which one begins to explore Azov. A few years ago, the building was recognized as a cultural heritage site of regional significance and placed under protection.

The old post office was built in the merchant style typical of late 19th century provincial Russia. Initially, the building was intended for residential use, but later it was rented by Yakov Davidovich Nemchenko for a printing house, where the newspaper "Echo of Azov" was published. After the revolution, a post office was established here.

The building is beloved by the townspeople, and the area is still referred to as "Old Post Office." If you close your eyes and dream a little, you can sense the aroma of fresh sealing wax, hear the creak of the postal carriage that delivered mail until the mid-20th century, the joyful voice of a philatelist who bought a rare stamp, and the rustle of newspapers.
