One of the remarkable examples of pre-revolutionary creativity by the outstanding Rostov architect Grigory Nikolaevich Vasilyev is the building of the School of Home Economics and Culinary Arts, constructed in 1901. Today, it holds the status of a cultural heritage site of regional significance.

The order for construction was given by the famous Rostov merchant and "spirits king" Nikolai Ilyich Tokarev, who in 1898 opened a practical school of culinary arts and home economics at his own expense. Initially, the school was located on the second floor of Tokarev's private women's school, but later he decided to build a separate building for it. Thus, in 1901, a new building was erected on Nikolayevsky Lane, now called Semashko Lane, according to the design of architect Vasilyev and funded by Tokarev.

The two-story building with a red brick facade is executed in an eclectic style, combining elements of various architectural directions. The metal roof, characteristic of Art Nouveau, coexists with classical window frames and keystones, while the majolica inserts are inspired by ancient Russian architecture. Later, the merchant gifted this building to the city.

With the advent of Soviet power, a cafeteria opened in the building. In the 1990s, it was privatized and a café called "Teresa" appeared there. In 2009, the building was acquired by the Ginza Project holding, which opened a restaurant-club called "Park Kulture" there. The new owner changed the original color scheme of the mansion, painting it in gray tones, but otherwise, the exterior of the building remained the same.
