During the Great Stand, Russian warriors carried the miraculous Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God. At this time, the venerable Tikhon of Kaluga, along with the brethren of the monastery located three versts from the military frontiers, constantly prayed for the Russian land and its defenders. Thanks to God's providence, everything was resolved without bloodshed, and Rus gained freedom. After these events, the Tikhon monastery received lands and fishing rights here. It is believed that on the site of one of the princely camps of the Russian troops on the banks of the Ugra, the village of Dvortsы arose.

On April 10, 2010, on the 515th anniversary of the death of the venerable Tikhon of Kaluga, Metropolitan Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk consecrated the foundation of a church in honor of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, with a lower altar in the name of the venerable Sergius of Radonezh, in the new skete on the outskirts of the village of Dvortsы. The consecration of the lower church was conducted by Bishop Clement on August 5, 2011. Today, the Vladimir Skete is completing the creation of the diorama museum "The Great Stand on the Ugra." The painting of the Stand was created by artist Pavel Ryzhyenko at the Grekov studio.
