Estate in Kuntsevo

Фото 1
Kuntsevo, a former noble estate, is located in the Fili Park area of Moscow. In 1690 and 1865, it belonged to the Naryshkins and is a federal cultural heritage site.

After the Streltsy Uprising in 1690, the village of Kuntsevo, previously owned by the Miloslavskys, passed to the Naryshkins, particularly to Lev Kirillovich Naryshkin, the uncle of Peter the Great. In 1744, his son Alexander began the construction of a stone church in honor of the Sign of the Mother of God, on the site of which a new one was built in 1913. Under Alexander, a large house was also built, a garden with alleys was laid out, and greenhouses were created.

The estate was situated on a high bank of the Moscow River, and a straight three-kilometer alley led to it from Pokrovskoye, ending at the Znamenskaya Church. This alley corresponds to the modern Bolshaya Filyevskaya Street. In 1818, in connection with the visit of the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III, the father of Grand Duchess Alexandra Fyodorovna, to Moscow, Alexander Lvovich Naryshkin erected a commemorative obelisk in honor of this event.

In 1865, the estate was divided among Solodovnikov, Soldatenkov, and Shelaputin. The new owner became the factory owner and philanthropist Kozma Terentyevich Soldatenkov. Solodovnikov received a remote part with earthen structures on the bank.

In 1874, Soldatenkov built a new house on the estate, decorating its facade with pilasters, a frieze, and panels. Statues of Juno and Jupiter and a marble obelisk were placed in front of the house. Many famous people visited and created here, such as L.N. Tolstoy, N.P. Ogaryov, A.I. Herzen, M.A. Vrubel, A.K. Savrasov, I. Kramskoy, and F. Pukireev. P.I. Tchaikovsky, who visited Kuntsevo, recorded the song "Solovushka," which he later used in his works.

In 1960, the main estate house was placed under state protection. After a fire in 1974, the house was dismantled and restored in 1976 from brick. In 1979, the estate with the park was recognized as a regional monument of garden and park art. In 1997, the territory was transferred to the Fili Culture and Recreation Park, and since 1998, it has been part of the Moscow River Natural and Historical Park.

In 2015, after another fire, restoration work began in the main building with plans to open a youth palace.
