In Tyumen, there once existed a street called Tsarskaya. It was named in honor of the visit of the heir to the throne, the future Emperor Alexander II. This street was central and considered the main trading place in the city. Numerous estates of wealthy merchants and other entrepreneurs were located here. One of the monuments of ancient architecture was the house of merchant Zinaida Vasilyevna Lagina. She traded in textiles, soap, bone combs, perfumes, and many other goods. Apparently, her business was successful, and in 1870 she decided to move to the center of Tyumen, to Tsarskaya Street.

The house was built in the classical style and decorated with geometric figures, window frames, brick overlays, and other decorative elements. Even then, the building was considered one of the most beautiful on the street and still attracts tourists today. The estate was constructed with commercial interests in mind: the main rooms on the first floor were used by Lagina for her shop, while the others were rented out. The merchant lived on the upper floor. Unfortunately, over the past 150 years, the interior has not been preserved, and it is currently impossible to learn about the house's interior decoration. However, the atmosphere of life in this place is easily imagined.

Nearby was the main trading square of Tyumen, Bazar Square. Here, a crowd was constantly bustling, buyers came and went, clerks settled affairs, and carts with goods scurried back and forth. During major holidays, especially during Maslenitsa, sleds decorated with carpets and bells, drawn by horses, passed along Tsarskaya Street. In such a noisy and carnival atmosphere lived the inhabitants of the estate. During the Soviet era, the building came under the control of local authorities, and now it is part of a complex of buildings belonging to the skin and venereal disease dispensary of Tyumen.
