If you visit the village of Sokha in the Ryazan region and take a close look at the former noble house, it may seem that you are looking at a copy of the Paveletsky railway station. Although it is difficult to notice due to the ruins, the fact remains: the building was constructed according to similar blueprints. The village of Sokha was the estate of the Derwizes, a noble family. Its owner, Pavel Grigorievich, was a major railway builder in Russia and personally knew Alexander Krasovsky, the architect of the Paveletsky station. However, there is an interesting detail: the station was built in 1900, while the Derwizes' estate was completed in 1890. This means that the Paveletsky station is a copy of the estate, not the other way around.

The estate was acquired by the German Derwizes, who had assimilated into Russian culture, closer to the end of the 19th century. Pavel Derwize dreamed of turning the village into a palace ensemble and managed to build the estate, organize three ponds, and lay out an alley with a park. Unfortunately, his health did not allow him to complete his plans, and the estate passed to his son, Pavel. He continued the work with enthusiasm. Thanks to Krasovsky, an icehouse, similar to a refrigerator, was built here, where ice was stored in the spring to keep the temperature low all summer. Nearby was a two-story manager's house, which, according to rumors, was connected to the noble estate by an underground passage. Now everything is overgrown, and it is difficult to verify this.

Pavel Derwize took special pride in the stable. The son of a railway magnate, who had served as a hussar in his youth, retained his love for horses. Heavy draft horses were bred in Sokha, and a carriage repair workshop operated nearby. However, in 1918, the estate was nationalized, and Pavel Derwize was sentenced to execution. Fortunately, local residents warned him, and he managed to flee to Petrograd. Later, he settled in the Tver region and worked as a teacher in a rural school until the end of his life. Over time, the Sokha estate fell into disrepair.
