The idea of building a church on Mount Dubrovka in honor of St. George the Great Martyr arose among the residents of Essentuki and the cousins Pavel Vladimirovich Muzenitov and Konstantin Maximovich Aslanov. The chosen location for construction is unique: from the mountain, there is a stunning panorama of the Caucasian Mineral Waters.

On November 16, 1998, on St. George's Day, Metropolitan Gideon of the Stavropol and Vladikavkaz Diocese blessed the construction of the church. The brothers, with the support of relatives, friends, and volunteers, laid the foundation and built the church in honor of St. George the Victorious over several years.

Since 1999, Sunday water blessing services have been held on Mount Dubrovka during the construction. White marble for the wall cladding was brought from the Urals, and the finishing details were carefully selected. Inside, marble columns and a mosaic floor with an eight-pointed Bethlehem star were installed. The church's domes are covered in gold.

During this period, a bell tower was also erected. In 2003, Archbishop Theophan blessed the construction of a women's monastery with a shelter for orphaned girls. A new Orthodox community began to form in the North Caucasus. After the church was built, a chapel, an icon shop, and a residential building for nuns, novices, pilgrims, and the girls from the shelter were constructed.

On February 3, 2006, the first residents arrived at the monastery: nun Varvara, nun Antonina, and novice Elena. At first, they lived in a construction trailer, working for the glory of God in the new community.

On April 11, 2006, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church officially opened the St. George Women's Monastery, appointing nun Varvara as the abbess. A distinctive feature of the monastery is the establishment of a shelter for girls deprived of parental care. The shelter began its work in December 2009 when three children with difficult fates arrived at the community.

The frescoes of the church began in 2009 and continue to this day. The monastery lives a full life: a garden and vegetable patch are cultivated, cows are milked, cheeses are made, icons are painted, and girls are raised. The children find care and the best conditions for life and study here. Most importantly, there is prayer. The nuns pray for the whole world, the Church, the country, the people, and all who ask for their prayers.

The monastery houses relics: the miraculous icon of the Most Holy Theotokos "All-Merciful", the "Theodorovskaya" icon, relics of St. George the Victorious, and other saints. Hundreds of believers have already been able to venerate these relics and receive grace-filled help.

Since March 22, 2011, the monastery has been part of the Kislovodsk deanery of the Pyatigorsk and Cherkessk Diocese, headed by Bishop Theophilact. The monastery is actively functioning, services are held regularly, and the number of residents is increasing. A fruit orchard has been planted, and raspberries, strawberries, and vegetables are grown. The sisters keep cows, chickens, and a beehive, providing the monastery with dairy products, eggs, and honey.

Since 2009, a shelter-pension "Sophia" for children in difficult life situations has been operating at the monastery. Eleven girls aged five to fourteen, who have experienced hardships in their families, are raised here. Abbess Varvara does everything to ensure that the children feel loved and cared for. Sensitive educators work in the shelter, paying attention to the social adaptation of the girls. The children study in a school and kindergarten in the village of Yasnaya Polyana.

The girls also receive musical education at the Arts School of Essentuki and participate in the "Colorit" art studio. In warm weather, they go on plein air outings and visit museums. Each of them has become a winner or laureate of various drawing competitions.

Life in the shelter teaches children to be friends, appreciate care and love, and understand the value of work and knowledge. The sisters treat the girls with love, striving to give them not only shelter and food but also a real family. During school holidays, the children come to the monastery, where they enjoy working, caring for animals, drawing, and preparing performances. The sisters also visit large families, organize celebrations, and provide material assistance.
