The residents of the Argentine town of Choele-Choel have long been accustomed to girls in traditional Russian dresses and men in kosovorotkas, as well as to an unusual Russian accent. These people, descendants of Old Believers who settled in Argentina in the early 20th century, have been living here for several generations. They sought the opportunity to follow their religious traditions and found it.

Over the years, Russian settlers have achieved significant success. Locals note their hard work: they get up early and head to their farms. Despite stereotypes about conservatism, Old Believers actively use modern technology: tractors, combines, cars. Their homes have televisions, internet, plumbing, and sewage systems. In Choele-Choel, they have the lowest crime rate among them, and they lead in education and income.

Old Believers live harmoniously, celebrating church holidays, birthdays, and weddings together. Children know many Russian games and songs, girls can embroider and knit, and make homemade dolls. Although Old Believers are often considered secretive and withdrawn, this does not apply to their Argentine descendants. Young people freely visit cafes, cinemas, and parks, easily communicate with those around them, and are eager to take photos.

It is remarkable that after more than a hundred years, they have not assimilated and have preserved their national identity. Everyone speaks Russian fluently, although their speech includes outdated words.
