The history of the Pronskaya Spasskaya Desert dates back to the 17th century. Sources from that time provide a more complete picture of monasteries and the land ownership of the clergy. In the 16th century, many monasteries disappeared, and it is likely that the Spasskaya Desert was founded then. Exact data about the founder and the time of the foundation of the Pronskaya Spasskaya Desert is absent. Archives of the Ryazan region mention that "when and by whom this desert was founded is unknown." However, the land books of 1640 indicate that the old sloboda's shooters had a pasture near the "Spassky Monastery." The desert was located 50 versts from Ryazan, on the left bank of the Prona River. In 1852, researcher Ratshin wrote about the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity with the limit of the Transfiguration of the Lord. Archpriest V. Garetovsky suggested in 1866 that the main church was originally dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord, from which the desert got its name. It is called Pronskaya due to its proximity to the ancient city of Pronsk.

The next mention of the desert dates back to 1724, when by the decree of Peter I, monasteries with a small number of monks were abolished, and the brotherhood was transferred to larger monasteries. Before its revival in the mid-18th century, there were two wooden churches in the desert. In 1765, a stone church was beautified through the efforts of landowner Ivan Ivanovich Burtsov, who is mentioned as the builder of the temple. His son, Andrey Ivanovich Burtsov, likely built the stone fence. In 1826, the residents of Pronsk wished for an annual procession to the Spasskaya monastery, which was approved by the decree of the Ryazan consistory.

In February 2011, the revival of the Pronskaya shrine began with the blessing of the archbishop of the Ryazan diocese. The monastery received the status of an archiepiscopal courtyard, although the buildings remained on the state balance. The brotherhood began to improve the territory. The first inhabitants settled in the summer house. On October 2, 2013, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church decided to open the Spaso-Transfiguration Pronsky Monastery, appointing Igumen Luka Stepanov as the abbot. Water supply and sewage were updated, and the Three Saints Cathedral was restored and is being painted. The icon of the Mother of God "Heal My Sorrows" returned to the monastery. An icon of "Intercessor of Sinners" was painted on the Holy Mountain Athos, which was met with a solemn procession by the residents and clergy. The image is kept in the temple as a successor of the grace of the lost shrine. A hotel for pilgrims operates in the monastery, and work has begun on the restoration of the Church of the Holy Trinity.
