The church in the village of Ustya stands out with its unusual architecture. Its appearance was not created from scratch, but modeled after a recognizable prototype. Imitation is often found in architecture, but in this case, the copy became an independent masterpiece, possibly even surpassing the original. We are talking about the Resurrection Cathedral of the Archierial Court in Vologda, built between 1772 and 1776. This monument of late Baroque is characteristic of Vologda and significant for the architectural history of the city. The building has an oval shape with a low first floor, a sloping dome, and four semicircular chapels topped with two-tiered towers.

After the October Revolution, the church functioned for some time but was then turned into a warehouse. In the 1930s, the southern towers facing the river were lost, leaving only the northwest and partially the northeast. Gradually, the entire complex of the Resurrection cemetery began to deteriorate. Father Dmitry, the rector of the Nikolsky church, sadly recalls how the former church territory was used as a public toilet during festivities. Fortunately, in the 1980s, people who recognized the value of the ensemble emerged, and the buildings were preserved until the early 2000s. When Father Dmitry arrived to revive the parish, there was only mud and ruin. He gathered the parishioners, mostly elderly women, and asked them to pray. "And the prayer began," the priest recounts. Gradually, with God's help, everything started to improve. The area was cleared, and benefactors appeared. One of them helped install the dome. One day, a local journalist asked Father Dmitry to talk about the miracle in the church. The priest pointed to the dome: "Here it is, the real miracle, there is no money, but the dome is already here!"

Now, regular services are held in the church. The parish is small, with about twenty-five people attending the service. With God's help, they managed to partially restore the fence. In 2006, an important step was taken in preserving the complex of the Resurrection cemetery: the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was included in the list of cultural heritage sites of regional significance and placed under state protection.
