In the early 20th century, the monastery was a developed architectural complex, with the massive Mary Magdalene Cathedral towering in the center, built between 1884 and 1886 according to the design of architect A.A. Kyui.
This brick six-column five-domed church in the neo-Russian style is located on the basement floor. The upper church is dedicated to Mary Magdalene and has chapels in honor of George and All Saints. The lower church, the Tikhvin Church, includes the Mitrophanie-Tikhon Chapel and the Dionysius-Kliment Chapel.
A brick bell tower with seven bells stands in place of the former wooden one. On the pediment of the bell tower, one can see an inscription in Church Slavonic: "For God is with us."
In the 1920s, the church was closed and used as a warehouse and cafeteria. After restoration and reconstruction, it was consecrated again in 2010.
Not far from the monastery, behind the eastern gates, in the shade of trees, lies the holy spring of the Protection of the Mother of God. According to many pilgrims, its healing water helps with various ailments, especially with leg diseases.
