The Epiphany Cathedral is a three-story building with a dome on a low drum, pierced by eight windows divided into small squares. The proportions of the floors and the design of the window frames, united in a single architectural composition, reflect the transition from fading baroque to classicism. The frieze, divided into triglyphs, adds to the cathedral's appeal. The pediments of the windows of all five apses are adorned with elegant cherubs, creating a beautiful view with their semicircular curves. The dome, decorated with eight lucarnes, resembles a crown, although its crowning part is less successful. The lattice at the base of the drum is also attractive. The interior decoration of the cathedral is not of interest, but the bell tower, built by the same architect S. Vorotilov to replace the one destroyed in 1773, impresses with its fantastic appearance due to its arches, columns, and decorations. Up close, it astonishes with its majesty and grace. The stairs leading to the bell tower create a solid foundation, and in winter, partially covered with snow, they smoothly connect the ground with the structure, so that after a snowfall, the bell tower seems to rise from the snow. The bell tower is adorned with columns at the corners, which do not overload the structure, as the wall space allows them to stand out. The cornice of the first tier is decorated with gilded rococo scrolls, and the torn pediments of the third tier feature the Eye of God with golden rays. The corners of each tier are adorned with gilded vases with blue stripes, giving the bell tower a fantastic appearance comparable to an Indian pagoda. The transition to the dome is filled with an olive-colored clock face with a black center on the bright blue background of the dome's concave surface. Next comes the expansion, then a narrowing, and finally, an elegant finish with a tall spire. The combination of gold with blue and white creates a pleasant impression and suggests that the bell tower could look even better with a two-tone coloring in white and blue, which would allow the white columns and decorations to stand out against the colored background.
