The Annunciation Church was built on the site of a previous wooden one and consecrated in 1675, as evidenced by the inscription on the wall: "This temple was consecrated in the year from the creation of the world 7183, from the incarnation of the Word of God in the year 1675 on the 21st day of March in memory of our father Jacob the Confessor, under the Blessed Sovereign, Tsar and Grand Duke Alexei Mikhailovich, Autocrat of All Great, Little, and White Russia, under the Most Reverend Bishop Stephen of Suzdal and Yuriev." This five-domed church in Byzantine style is located on a steep bank of the Teza River. Its decor is impressive: on a pale pink background with a lilac hue, pearl patterns are scattered. Thanks to the pyramidal structure of the upper part, adorned with kokoshniks and slender drums with elegant bulbs, the church appears slender and light. The Annunciation Church was surrounded by a stone fence with gates and corner towers executed in the classical style.

The Annunciation Monastery was closed in 1764 with the establishment of states. Until 1831, the church housed the cells of the abbess of the former monastery, which were destroyed by fire. According to legend, the royal nun Elena, Lopukhina Evdokiya Fedorovna, the former wife of Peter the Great, lived in these cells for some time, coming here from the Pokrovsky Suzdal Monastery.

The church has three altars: the main one in honor of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the side altars in the name of Saint Tikhon of Amathus, the Miracle Worker, and Saint Nicholas, the Miracle Worker. Among the ancient sacred items are a silver panagia, a carved pectoral cross in a silver frame, two stars with the inscription "benefit, honor, and glory," as well as a copper chandelier with a double-headed eagle, donated by nun Elena, Queen Evdokiya Lopukhina.
