The figures of Cyril and Methodius are installed on a round granite pedestal, decorated at the bottom with tiles featuring ancient letters of the Slavic alphabet. In the center of the composition is a cross with a crucifix. The brothers hold a Bible and scrolls in their hands. The pedestal is engraved with the inscription: "Saints Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius, teachers of the Slavs."

Cyril and Methodius were the first teachers of Slavic writing. Methodius received a legal education in Constantinople. His younger brother had a special talent and knew not only Slavic, Greek, and Latin languages, but also ancient Hebrew, ancient Armenian, and Syriac. They taught their students the Slavic alphabet and, in their free time, translated Greek books into the Slavic language.

The brothers' activities caused discontent among the Catholic clergy. German feudal lords and church officials tried to hinder the enlightenment of the Slavs, seeking to tarnish their culture and writing. As a result, Cyril and Methodius were forced to go to Rome to seek the support of the Pope.

The creation of the Slavic alphabet and the development of writing were of immense significance. Slavic writing, which spread over 1100 years ago, became the foundation for the rich cultural heritage of the Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Serbian, Bulgarian, and other peoples, which has entered world literature and culture.
