The Serov Historical Museum is one of the oldest in the Northern Urals and was founded on May 1, 1920. Over the years, the museum has changed its location multiple times, temporarily closed, and reopened. Since May 1953, it has been located on the first floor of a residential building. In 1964, a significant event took place in the museum with the opening of a planetarium, which remains the only functioning one of its kind in the Sverdlovsk region today.

The museum's collection includes exhibits that reflect various periods of the region's history, from ancient times when there was a sea in the Ural territory to the present day.

Currently, the museum features the historical exhibition "Nadezhdinsk, Kabakovsk, Serov," opened in May 2008, a hall for temporary exhibitions, and the planetarium.
