On the eastern side of the kremlin, the Semyonovskaya tower, also known as the Simeonovskaya tower, has been preserved. Its height is 24 meters, length is 12 meters, and width is 8 meters. The wall thickness at the bottom reaches 2.9 meters, while at the top it is 1.85 meters. The tower has five floors, one of which is underground and hidden beneath the ground. The upper sixth tier featured a gallery with battlements resembling the shape of a swallow's tail. The battlements are 2.5 meters high and 1.44 meters wide. The tower was topped with a four-pitched tent roof.

On the eastern side of the kremlin, there were four twin towers near the Semyonovskaya tower, of which three have survived to this day: Pogorelaya, Spasskaya, and Yamskaya.

The name Semyonovskaya or Simeonovskaya tower was given in honor of the church of Simeon the Stylite, which was previously located in Zhitnaya Square. Although the church has not survived, the tower continues to bear this name.
