The Russian Archive, established in 1982, is part of the special collections fund of Leeds University Library, one of the largest academic libraries in the UK. The archive houses around 650 collections, including manuscripts, photographs, and other archival materials, as well as over 10,000 books, journals, and newspapers dedicated to the history, literature, and culture of Russia, as well as Anglo-Russian relations in the 19th and 20th centuries. This archive holds the most significant collection in the UK related to Russian emigration. It contains the largest overseas collection of the writer Ivan Bunin, including nearly 11,000 documents such as manuscripts, diaries, notebooks, correspondence, and rare printed editions.
