The Priluzsky District Local History Museum named after I.A. Yaborov was founded on October 20, 1967, thanks to the efforts of Ivan Afanasyevich Yaborov, who was deeply passionate about the history of his region. In 1988, the museum received the status of a 'People's Museum', and in 1989 it became a district museum. Since 1997, it has borne the name of its founder. In 2008, a memorial plaque was installed on the museum building in honor of Yaborov. The museum building, constructed in 1895, originally served as a zemstvo school, and later housed an elementary school and a library. Since 1986, it has been home to the local history museum, which features exhibitions dedicated to the history of the region and to Yaborov himself, including his family genealogy.

The museum plays an important role as a sociocultural institution, being one of the main cultural centers of the district and the village. Given the remoteness of the Priluzsky district from major cultural centers, the museum contributes to the preservation and development of the spiritual life of the local population. It brings together children, veterans, and bearers of traditional culture, fostering patriotism and respect for the history of their homeland. The museum actively collaborates with archives, libraries, the Veterans Council, the Society of Disabled Persons, and other organizations, as well as interacts with educational institutions.

The main task of the museum is to popularize knowledge about the nature, everyday life, history, and culture of the residents of the district from the late 19th to the early 20th century, as well as about the modern life of the region. The museum provides access to its collections, identifies and studies exhibits, and organizes services for the public taking into account various interests and needs. An important aspect is the outreach work: excursions, lectures, activities with children, veterans, and schoolchildren, as well as publications and explanatory texts.

The exhibits in the nature hall demonstrate the characteristics of the southern republic's nature, including local animals and birds, as well as geological and entomological collections. The ethnography hall features folk costumes, towels, wooden dishes, and household items dating from the 18th to the early 20th century. Here, one can also see items of Orthodox cult: ancient icons and church bells. The history hall contains documents and photographs telling about the outstanding natives of Priluzhye, such as Heroes of the Soviet Union and socialist labor, writers, and playwrights. The museum also has a collection of works by local landscape artists.

The museum's funds hold 2,293 items in the main fund and more than 8,240 items in the scientific auxiliary fund.
