The Podosinovsky Local History Museum was originally opened on May 28, 1976, on a voluntary basis at the House of Pioneers. After a series of reorganizations, it resumed operations on March 20, 1991. Its collection includes materials reflecting the history of the region from ancient times, including the main occupations and crafts of the local population, as well as the development of industry and education. The foundation of the archaeological collection consists of finds from the Podgorbunovsky and Kolotovsky settlements, as well as artifacts related to the 'Zavolochskaya Chud'.

The museum's exhibition covers various periods of the region's and district's history: settlement of the territory, transport routes of the 13th and 19th centuries, trade, industry, education, medicine, peasant crafts, and handicrafts of the 19th and 20th centuries. It also features wooden shipbuilding on the rivers of the Northern Dvina basin, natural and architectural monuments of the region, the history of churches in the Podosinovsky district, and materials about the Great Patriotic War, including documents, photographs, awards, and personal belongings of participants.

The museum includes the Otrakov House, which presents the history of medicine in the area and the memorial office of N.V. Otrakov, as well as the Memorial House-Museum of I.S. Konev.

The museum is located in two single-story wooden buildings: the zemstvo clinic built in 1914 and a typical building with a mezzanine, formerly the house of the volost administration, erected in 1890.
