Sakharov Technical History Park in Tolyatti

Фото 1
The idea of creating the Technical Museum of OAO "AvtoVAZ" belongs to the company's vice president, Konstantin Grigoryevich Sakharov. He envisioned the museum not only as a collection of exhibits of Soviet industry technology from the 20th century but also as an urban park for entertainment with exercise equipment and attractions, a place for family recreation with well-maintained green areas. The co-author and designer of the museum project was Mark Vasilyevich Demidovtsev, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and an honorary citizen of Tolyatti. Sergey Petrovich Prokhorov, a candidate of technical sciences and deputy director for engineering and technological support, played an important role in the project. Thanks to his organizational efforts and engineering calculations, a complex operation was successfully carried out to transport the submarine B-307 from Kronstadt to the exhibition site.

On September 7, 2001, the Technical Museum of OAO "AvtoVAZ" was opened. On the site of a former construction waste dump, more than 450 exhibits were placed, including aviation, space, engineering, railway, automotive, armored, agricultural, and rocket technology, as well as artillery pieces and naval weapon systems. A special place in the collection is occupied by the largest diesel-electric submarine of project 641B "SOM" B-307 of the Russian Navy.

In September 2014, the museum became a municipal autonomous cultural institution of the Tolyatti urban district and was named the Sakharov Technical History Park.
