The monument to Vladimir the Brave-Donskoy in Maloyaroslavets is dedicated to the founder of this ancient city, who first described the region in his spiritual charter in 1402.

The sculpture was installed on Kaluzhskaya Street in 2002, 600 years after the presumed date of Maloyaroslavets' founding.

It is believed that Vladimir the Brave-Donskoy, grandson of Ivan Kalita, participated in the famous Battle of Kulikovo, for which he earned the title "the brave," and the epithet "Donskoy" was given to him after the same battle. The monument's project was developed by Belarusian sculptor and academician Arkhipovich. The history of the city's name is also interesting: in 1388, Vladimir the Brave-Donskoy and his wife had a son named Yaroslav. Later, Vladimir founded a settlement by the rivers Luzha and Protva and named it after his son. Over time, the city became known as Yaroslavl, and later received the prefix "Malyy."
