The famous Orthodox cemetery at the Novo-Diveevo monastery has become the resting place for many Russians forced to leave their homeland. Here, a monument to the soldiers of the ROA and a chapel in honor of the Russian Corps have been established. In this note, we will tell the story of the creation of the only monument to the soldiers of the Liberation Movement of the Peoples of Russia from 1941 to 1945. The Novo-Diveevo monastery itself was founded in the early 1950s by Archbishop Andrei (Rymarenko) in Nanuet, New York, USA. The cemetery was consecrated on September 6, 1952. Notable figures such as Princess Vera Konstantinovna and Olga Mikhailovna Wrangel, as well as participants of the White Movement and the ODN, are buried here.

Among the former officers of the Armed Forces of the KONR who found themselves in exile, the idea of creating a monument to Lieutenant General A.A. Vlasov and the participants of the Liberation Movement emerged. In 1964, a Committee for the Commemoration of the Fallen Soldiers of the ROA was established, headed by Colonel Partleznik. The result of the Committee's work was that on September 4, 1967, the foundation of the monument was laid at the cemetery of the monastery in Novo-Diveevo, and it was consecrated on September 26. The opening of the monument took place on October 1, 1967, with architect Mikhail Lermontov.

The magazine "Chasovoy" described the event as follows: in the morning, representatives of military and public organizations, Cossacks, and political groups began to gather. At 1:00 PM, honor guards lined up at the monument, which was covered with a tarpaulin. At 1:45 PM, Metropolitan Philaret arrived with the clergy. At the command "Attention! Officers!" and to the singing of "How Glorious," the tarpaulin was removed, revealing the portrait of General Vlasov. Bishop Philaret consecrated the monument, praying for those who gave their lives for others. After the "Eternal Memory," wreaths were laid by various organizations.

Metropolitan Philaret, in his speech, noted the sacrifices of the Russian people and expressed confidence in the imminent liberation of Russia. Colonel Partleznik also gave a speech about the significance of the monument. After the ceremony, a friendly gathering took place in the monastery's refectory, where representatives of various organizations spoke.

The Committee for the Commemoration of the Fallen Soldiers of the ROA expressed gratitude to Metropolitan Philaret, the clergy, and all who supported their efforts. For many years, an annual memorial service for General Vlasov and his associates has been held at the monument.
