On July 19, 2014, a bronze bust of Suvorov was installed in Azov in honor of the great Russian commander. The opening of the monument coincided with the anniversary of Azov's final accession to the Russian Empire. The monument is located on the grounds of the Azov Powder Magazine, a monument of military engineering art from the 18th century.

The bust of Suvorov is mounted on a rectangular pedestal and was created as part of the "Alley of Russian Glory" project. It was cast in Kropotkin and donated to the Azov Historical, Archaeological, and Paleontological Museum-Reserve. The monument is situated next to the powder magazine and the house where Suvorov once stayed. The pedestal is inscribed with the words: "Suvorov Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov 1730-1800. Great Russian commander, Generalissimo, Prince of Italy, Count of Rymnik." On the sides of the monument, plaques describing his activities are affixed, and nearby are two ancient cannons.

The residents of Azov remember that Suvorov's name is closely linked to the history of their city. In 1778-1779, he inspected the construction of the Azov-Mozdok defensive line, established after the Russo-Turkish War of 1768-1774. Alexander Vasilyevich visited the Azov fortress multiple times and led the main operations in that war.
