In 2006, in Tarusa, on the eve of Marina Tsvetaeva's birthday, a monument dedicated to the poetess was unveiled. The project was developed by architect Boris Messerer, and the sculpture was created by Vladimir Soskiyev. The monument is located on a high bank of the Oka River, next to which a young red rowan tree grows.

The idea of creating the monument belongs to Boris Messerer, who considers himself a patriot of Tarusa. He has lived in this city since before the war and strives to preserve the memory of the people who made Tarusa a significant spiritual center.
