To the south of the Urusov house, on the neighboring plot 14, behind the same fence designed by architect I.I. Rerberg, is the mansion built in 1900 according to the design of V.V. Sherwood for wallpaper merchant Sergey Gavrilovich Protopopov. In 1911, his son Nikolai sold the plot to Count Vladimir Sergeyevich Tatishchev. The Count immediately began reconstructing the house, inviting architect Gustav Augustovich Gelrich, who altered the facade and layout, adding neoclassical elements to the eclectic style of the building.

The fence created by V.V. Sherwood remained unchanged until the mid-20th century, when it was replaced during the transfer of the building to the Indonesian embassy in the 1950s. Now the properties of Count Tatishchev and the Urusovs are united by a common fence designed by I.I. Rerberg.

In 1913, G.A. Gelrich built a complex of neoclassical apartment buildings for V.S. Tatishchev on the plot adjacent to the mansion to the west, facing Pyatnitskaya Street, 43. Thus, the Count's house and his apartment buildings could form a large estate from street to street.

Count Vladimir Sergeyevich Tatishchev was not only noble but also wealthy, being one of the successful bankers and industrialists in Russia. Since 1909, he headed the United Bank, formed from the merger of three banks that were part of L.S. Polyakov's group. The bank's branches operated in 68 cities across Russia. The United Bank was established by the Ministry of Finance to stabilize the financial situation of the former Polyakov banks and retain their clientele. The bank building still stands at the corner of Kuznetsky Most and Rozhdestvenka.

After 1917, the Tatishchev house was inhabited by several dozen residents.

In the 1950s, the Urusov and Tatishchev houses were transferred to the Indonesian embassy. During the adaptation of the buildings, major renovations were carried out, and many rooms were altered. The entrance to the Tatishchev mansion was also changed, and instead of an open terrace on the northern side of the building, a two-story glazed structure was built.
