One of the most beautiful buildings on Pushkinskaya Street in Rostov-on-Don is the mansion of local philanthropist Pavel Kramer, built before the start of World War I as a rental house. However, soon the revolutions of 1917 and the Civil War began, and the city found itself at the center of the confrontation. This, of course, did not contribute to business development. Pavel Kramer, taking advantage of the restoration of order in the Don region by Ataman Krasnov, managed to leave the city before the Bolsheviks arrived, thus saving his life. The mansion was seized by the new authorities, and the owner's unique collection of paintings was transferred to the regional art museum.

In the 1920s, the building was handed over to the health department and soon fell into disrepair. After World War II, it was used for the treatment of regional officials. Only in 1982 was Kramer's mansion reconstructed, but by that time many external elements had been lost, and the interior decoration was almost completely destroyed. The authors of the new reconstruction project were architects Sergeyev and Korolev, after which the building was handed over to the House of Writers and Composers.

The reconstruction was not done well, and by the early 1990s the building was in urgent need of repair. To address the maintenance issue, its halls were rented out for various events, and a restaurant rented the basement. In the mid-1990s, there was a proposal to open a literary museum in the house. However, in 1999, the mansion was transferred to the ownership of the Administration of Rostov Region and underwent a new reconstruction according to architect Shevchenko's project. Windows, parts of walls, the roof, and inter-floor ceilings were replaced. After the renovation, the building was handed over to the Rostov Public Assembly, and the restaurant 'Sobranie' opened in it. Despite many years of unsuccessful reconstructions, the exterior of the mansion has changed significantly, but it has been included in the list of cultural heritage sites of regional significance and has retained its beauty. Today, it is hard to imagine how magnificent this mansion was before all the later changes.
