The Orichev Local History Museum was opened on May 6, 1995, based on a school museum dedicated to revolutionary, military, and labor glory. Its exhibits feature artifacts and materials that tell the history of the Orichev district and its famous residents.

Today, the museum's collections hold over 7,000 items. A particular pride are the collections of paintings by Sergei Vasilyevich and Nikolai Sergeevich Ponomaryov, as well as the root wood products "Fairy Tale in Wood" by sculptor Valentin Petrovich Rumynin. The museum also houses the banners of Lenin and Stalin, which were awarded to the Orichev district for mobilizing citizens to the front during the Great Patriotic War. An exhibition dedicated to the cosmonaut and twice Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Petrovich Savinykh draws attention, showcasing his personal belongings, space food, and other materials. The exhibition dedicated to the honored artist of the Russian Federation Lyubov Ivanovna Bazhina is particularly popular among local residents.

Each year, the museum is visited by over 8,000 people, hosting more than 300 events and over 500 excursions. The museum is open to all categories of citizens and offers guided tours of its halls, field trips to historical sites in the district, lessons of courage, meetings with interesting people, as well as games, educational activities, and workshops. Additionally, museum staff participate in the annual interregional holiday "Istoben Cucumber."
