The Nikol-Komaroivsky skit-convent appeared on the map of the Astrakhan diocese in 2004 thanks to the prayers and efforts of Igumen Peter and the brethren of the Ivanov Monastery, who received a blessing from Archbishop Ion. This skit is located 30 km from the monastery in the Kamyzyak district of the Astrakhan region, and it can be reached via a ferry crossing on the Old Volga River.

The John the Baptist Monastery acquired a semi-ruined student camp and a small plot of land that represented a wasteland with several uninhabitable buildings. Enclosing the territory with a fence, the brethren and workers began renovating the premises, followed by the restoration of the water supply, electricity, and gas pipelines. After the work was completed, the former camp became known as the skit-convent of the monastery.

In 2004, with the blessing of Archbishop Ion, the construction of a house church with a bell tower began. In the former student building, several rooms were combined to create a temple, which was consecrated in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Inexhaustible Cup." A copy of this miraculous icon was brought here from Serpukhov. Bishop Ion blessed the establishment of a sisterhood in the new convent, and the first nuns were Mother Anisiya Zakharova and Mother Maria Shirobokova. The church "The Inexhaustible Cup" serves not only as a skit church but also as a parish church. After seven years, the bells of the new bell tower call parishioners from the surrounding villages to service.

On July 7, 2005, a significant event occurred in the history of the skit: a cross was erected on the hill of the small plot, marking the future site of a church in honor of the five Holy Hierarchs of Moscow. This cross, which is over a hundred years old, was removed from one of the domes of the Cathedral of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos during its reconstruction and, with the blessing of Archbishop Ion, was delivered to the skit.
