To know, to be proud of, and to carefully preserve the cultural heritage of one's region is the motto of everyone who has realized their connection to the past and their responsibility to future generations. The idea of creating our museum belonged to Ekaterina Nikolaevna Lavrentieva, a history teacher from Tallinn Secondary School. She was supported with a space of 300 sq. m. An initiative group of 11 people was formed under the leadership of the second secretary of the district party committee, Yegorov V.Ya. Active work began in the summer of 1987. Artists from the art workshop of the culture department were involved in decorating the museum halls: A. Vasiliev, S. Kandyba, N. Belyaev, and P. Vereshchagin.

As soon as people learned about the creation of the museum, they began to bring and deliver antique items that had long been lying in attics and chests. Among the first and most valuable exhibits were icons and items from the Klyuchegorsk Women's Monastery in the village of Tally. Household utensils were also donated: irons, pots, samovars, and much more. A large amount of local history material, photographs, documents, books, and recordings was transferred to the museum by our local historian N.G. Khlebnikov, a distinguished teacher of the Russian Federation. The school also donated numerous exhibits. Residents of Chuvash villages provided ethnographic material on Chuvash culture.

On November 5, 1988, the museum was opened. In 1989, it was awarded the title of "People's". During the school year, the museum halls transform into classrooms for lessons on the history of the native land. Meetings with interesting people, war and labor veterans, exhibition presentations, museum hours, quizzes, and other events take place here. The successful cooperation of the museum with the school, archive, veteran and youth councils, church, local craftsmen, and artists allows for the effective use of resources for the spiritual, patriotic, ethical, and aesthetic education of youth. The museum also collaborates with the "Ryabinushka" sanatorium and a kindergarten. Museum staff travel to villages, accepting gifts from individuals and organizations. The museum actively participates in district celebrations and holidays, organizing exhibitions.
