In 1946, the Orthodox parish of the Annunciation of the Mother of God was opened in Blagoveshchensk, which was given the building of the former Catholic church built in 1903, as there were no Orthodox churches left in the city. In 1947, the parish was officially approved.

Later, the parish was transformed into the Gabriel-Archangel Monastery, and its church became monastic. The monastery was converted to a men's monastery on May 7, 2003, and in 2013 it became a dependency of the Trinity Monastery. The monastery serves as a spiritual center for the monk-priests of the diocese, who also serve in various parishes.

The brotherhood of the dependency actively engages in spiritual support for prisoners, as well as social service in hospitals, shelters, and nursing homes. The church houses two relics: a part of the relics of St. Alexander of Svir, gifted by Bishop Lucian in September 2015, and a part of the relics of St. George the Victorious, transferred in May 2016. Alexander of Svir is known as the only New Testament saint who saw the Holy Trinity in the form of three Angels during his lifetime, while St. George the Victorious is venerated as the patron of the Russian military, farmers, and men.
