The history of the construction of the men's gymnasium in Pereslavl began in 1909 and lasted seven years. The first four years were dedicated to resolving issues of financing, design, and site selection for the construction. The city administration purchased a plot from the heirs of Chechelyov in the old part of the city near the northern gate of the rampart, where the house of the manufacturer Ugrimov had previously stood.

In 1913, construction of the gymnasium began based on the project by architect M.E. Tyurin. The Ministry of Public Education allocated 50,000 rubles to the city administration of Pereslavl in the budget for 1915, but due to rising prices, this amount proved insufficient. The residents of the city actively supported the project, donating significant funds.

The building, designed in the Art Nouveau style with a high basement and elements made of Portland cement, was constructed in three years. The courtyard facade stands out, resembling towers and fortifications.

Initially, the central pediments of the building featured inscriptions in white brick: in the center, "Men's Gymnasium," and on the sides, "middle age" and "younger age." After the events of October 1917, the inscriptions were removed, but traces of them are still visible.

Today, this building houses general education school No. 1, where children continue to study.
