Ostankino Museum Estate is a monument of Russian architecture from the 18th century, located closest to the Kremlin among estate complexes. It is situated on the territory of the former estate of the Sheremetev counts.

The ensemble of the estate was formed under Count Nikolai Sheremetev at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. A palace-theater was built in Ostankino, the only surviving theatrical building from the late 18th century in Russia, which includes a stage, an auditorium, and dressing rooms. The theater featured performances by Sheremetev's serf actors, among whom was Nikolai Sheremetev's future wife, Praskovya Zhemchugova.

There is information that it was in Ostankino that the draft law on the abolition of serfdom was signed.

After the revolution, the palace and the entire territory were nationalized and opened to the public in 1919 as a park and museum of serf creativity.

In the early 1980s, the museum began to revive theatrical and concert activities. Since 1996, the Ostankino estate has hosted the annual theatrical and musical festival "Sheremetev Seasons."

Currently, the museum is closed for reconstruction.
