The I.P. Pozhalostin House Museum was opened in 1992 as part of the Ryazan State Regional Art Museum named after I.P. Pozhalostin in honor of the 155th anniversary of the artist's birth.

The house in Solotchi was built in 1880 according to a design by I.P. Pozhalostin himself. After returning from St. Petersburg to Ryazan in 1894, he spent a lot of time in Solotchi, where he created his last engravings.

After his death in 1909, the house was owned by his daughters Ekaterina and Alexandra. During the Soviet years, in the 1930s-1950s, famous writers K.G. Paustovsky, A.P. Gaidar, and R.I. Fraerman worked here, and their works written in Solotchi became part of the golden fund of domestic literature.

In the second half of the 20th century, the fate of the I.P. Pozhalostin house was not easy. It burned down three times, and the estate was abandoned. In the early 1990s, before the museum opened, the house and estate were restored.

The museum introduces visitors to Pozhalostin's work, starting from his first engravings to the unpublished engraving from A.A. Ivanov's painting "The Appearance of Christ to the People." The exhibition features a portrait gallery of state figures, writers, and clergymen created by the artist over forty years of creativity. In the engraver's office, a memorial exhibition can be seen.

The literary section of the museum tells about the influence of Solotchi impressions on the work of K.G. Paustovsky and A.P. Gaidar. From the estate begins the excursion route "K.G. Paustovsky Trail."

Today, the I.P. Pozhalostin House Museum is a cultural center in Solotchi. It hosts annual Pozhalostin Days dedicated to the artist's birthday, new exhibitions open monthly, and the "Conversationalist" club and Solotchi amateur choir are active.
