Museum of the Simbirsk Chuvash School in Ulyanovsk

The museum "Simbirsk Chuvash School. Apartment of I. Ya. Yakovlev" is dedicated to the life and achievements of I. Ya. Yakovlev, who managed to rise from an illiterate Chuvash shepherd boy to a recognized educator with numerous awards, known both in Russia and beyond.

The museum features six exhibitions for residents and visitors of the city:

"Memorial apartment of the I. Ya. Yakovlev family" and a documentary exhibition about his descendants;

"Memorial classroom of the Simbirsk Chuvash Teacher's School," where one can learn about the peculiarities of education;

the ethnographic exhibition "Culture and Life of the Chuvash of the Simbirsk Region at the End of the 19th and Beginning of the 20th Century," which tells about the traditions of the Chuvash people;

the documentary exhibition "History of the Simbirsk Chuvash Teacher's School," revealing the significance of the school founded by Ivan Yakovlevich Yakovlev in the enlightenment and formation of the Chuvash people as a nation;

the documentary exhibition "Personality and Family of A. V. Zhirkovich in the History of the Fatherland," dedicated to Alexander Vladimirovich Zhirkovich, a lawyer and writer who witnessed the pre-revolutionary events in Simbirsk;

"Fairy Mirror Land," an interactive space with modern design and multimedia technologies. I. Ya. Yakovlev, as an ethnographer and folklore researcher, along with his students and teachers, collected folk tales, songs, and proverbs. This material was included in textbooks to awaken in children a love for their native language and respect for their own and other peoples.
