The Museum of Crafts, Architecture, and Everyday Life in Kaluga, dedicated to folk crafts, was founded in 1991. It is a small museum that receives up to 2000 visitors annually.

The museum features three permanent exhibitions dedicated to small architectural forms, everyday life, and crafts of the Kaluga region. It also regularly hosts temporary exhibitions that highlight various aspects of life and crafts in the region, such as the Christmas exhibition, displays dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, icon covers, embroidery, and traditional costumes of the Kaluga region.

Particular attention is drawn to the permanent exhibition dedicated to the folk craft of clay toys from Kaluga. It includes toys from private collections, dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries, as well as works by contemporary masters created in the museum's experimental laboratory. Guided tours include workshops under the program "Initial Work with Clay," where visitors can immerse themselves in the history of the craft.

Based on the program for preserving and developing the traditional craft of clay toys from Kaluga, the School of Folk Masters was established under the Russian program "Heritage," led by Vladimir Alexandrovich Tkachenko. The school specializes in working with traditional urban clay toys. In developing the educational program, museum staff carefully approach the popularization of cultural heritage, focusing on identifying, preserving, and studying traditions, which allows for the creation of a methodological base for studying the spiritual and material culture of the region.
