No guest of our city can pass by this majestic building. The Entrance Jerusalem Temple-ship with a bell tower-mast, built with the funds of Totma merchants and sailors Grigory and Peter Panov, is considered one of the peaks of northern baroque. In honor of the 300th anniversary of the Russian fleet, a maritime museum was opened on the first floor of the church, dedicated to the remarkable pages of the city's history, thanks to which Totma earned the reputation of the "city of Russian Columbuses."

In the second half of the 18th century, Totma merchants dispatched about twenty expeditions to the eastern borders of Russia, the Pacific coast, Alaska, and the Aleutian Islands. The main goal of these journeys was the procurement of fur, which was highly valued at that time, and in this endeavor, the Totmichs achieved significant success. Empress Catherine the Great was aware of the commercial expeditions and in 1780 approved the coat of arms of Totma featuring a black fox on a golden background, symbolizing the residents' skill in hunting these animals.

The maritime museum includes three thematic complexes. The first is dedicated to the history of the Russian fleet from its inception. The second hall provides a detailed account of the history of Totma's maritime activities, its influence on the life of the city, and the churches built with the funds of local merchants. The third hall is dedicated to the 20th century and the fates of Totmichs who served in the navy, as well as a new project continuing the traditions of Totma's maritime activities, the "School of Travelers of Fyodor Konyukhov."

During museum hours, visitors can climb the bell tower, where an operational belfry has been recreated. It is considered the best high point for viewing the city. Professional ringing is performed daily by museum staff member Andrey Alekseevich Novikov.

On the second floor is the Church of Nicholas the Wonderworker, consecrated in 2017. Its interior partially retains frescoes that can be viewed during church hours, independent of the museum's schedule.

In 2020, the maritime museum plans to move to the estate complex of merchant Fyodor Kholodilov on the Kuskovo Embankment.

The museum administration apologizes to visitors for the signs of unfinished repairs and asks for understanding.
