The 'Grocery Store' Museum in Ulyanovsk

Фото 1
The building that now houses the 'Grocery Store' museum was constructed in 1851. In the second half of the 19th century, a small shop with the same name was located on its first floor. This shop operated until the early 1890s. The building underwent reconstruction in 1982, and the museum opened here in 2002.

In the museum, visitors can see authentic exhibits that testify to trade in Simbirsk in the 19th century. The exhibition represents a small ethnographic corner, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a private shop of that time. In the room of the old shop, one can see a long counter with a desk, scales, bins of flour on the floor, and various goods on the shelves: candies, sugar loaves, glassware, colonial goods, tea, coffee, tobacco, kerosene lamps, candles, matches, soap, writing supplies, hardware items, and everything necessary for handicrafts.
