The museum was founded in September 1996 by the decision of the Board of the Samara Bank of Sberbank of Russia as a corporate "Museum of the History of the Samara Bank of Sberbank of Russia." Its opening took place on November 10, 1998. On March 22, 2012, a new exhibition was presented, and the museum became accessible to the general public in Samara, located in the building of the first Samara Soviet Gostrudsberkassa No. 28.
The museum actively collaborates with cultural institutions in the city and region, leading travel agencies in the area, educational institutions in Samara, as well as public organizations and private collectors. An auditorium dedicated to the history of Sberbank has been opened at the Samara State Economic University.
The museum has participated twice in the "Night of Museums" festival, offering special programs.
In the future, the museum plans to expand its activities by organizing traveling exhibitions, educational programs, and increasing exhibition space as part of the creation of a "cultural and communication center" of the Volga Bank.
