The men's monastery of St. Kuksha of Pechersk is located at the site of the martyrdom of St. Kuksha of Pechersk, who died in 1113. He was an enlightener of the Vyatichs and is considered the heavenly patron of the Oryol-Liven diocese.

According to historians, the memory of Kuksha was preserved immediately after his martyr's death. In the 19th century, peasants claimed that the well where Kuksha was killed was considered a holy place, and pilgrimage to it had been occurring since ancient times. According to legend, a chapel with a cross was built at the site of the saint's death, where local residents gathered annually for a prayer service. However, over time, the veneration weakened, and by the end of the 19th century, the structures had fallen into ruin.

In the late 19th century, a brotherhood was established in Mtsensk in memory of Kuksha. In 1872, archpriest I. S. Popov drew attention to the stone Church of the Epiphany, which had fallen into disrepair. In 1876, he created the Brotherhood of St. Kuksha there. In 1894, an attempt was made to transfer the relics of Kuksha to the Epiphany Church, but it was unsuccessful. However, part of the relics was transferred to Mtsensk with the consent of Metropolitan of Kyiv Ioannikiy. An icon depicting Kuksha was commissioned at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which was delivered to Oryol in 1895 and placed in the Trinity Church.

The Oryol Church Archaeological Committee, established in 1900, also chose Kuksha as its patron. In 1905, the committee was transformed into the Oryol Church Historical and Archaeological Society, and the celebration of Kuksha's memory was established on August 27. In 1913, the 800th anniversary of his death was widely celebrated in the Oryol diocese. The celebrations were led by Bishop Grigory of Oryol and other dignitaries, including Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna.

In 1914, about 2000 people gathered in Karandakov Forest for the celebration of Kuksha's memory. The villagers began raising funds to build a stone chapel at the site of the saint's death. During the years of persecution against Orthodoxy, the name of Kuksha was not forgotten, and in 1999, a skete was established at the site of his murder.

On October 4, 2012, the opening of the men's monastery in the name of St. Kuksha in the village of Frolovka, Oryol region, was blessed. On September 9, 2013, a solemn Divine Liturgy was held in the monastery in honor of the 900th anniversary of the baptism of Oryol region. Before the service, an icon of Kuksha with a particle of his relics was delivered to the Resurrection Church.

On April 19, 2015, Metropolitan Anthony of Oryol and Bolkhov consecrated the Resurrection Church of the men's monastery of St. Kuksha and conducted the Divine Liturgy. The church was laid in 2006, and its improvement continued until 2015.
