The monument to Georges Lyon and his common-law wife Alexandra Rozhnova is the work of Italian master Guidi. Although Georges Lyon and Alexandra Rozhnova were never officially married, they lived together in a civil marriage all their lives. Lyon worked for a company that supplied materials for the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway. He died before Alexandra but bequeathed that they be buried together. The monument has become a site of regional significance due to the mosaic created by the outstanding Russian mosaicist Frolov.

Frolov is known for his works in the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood and the Mausoleum, as well as at the Mayakovskaya, Kievskaya, and Avtozavodskaya metro stations. The last mosaic he assembled in besieged Leningrad in 1942, after which he died of starvation. The mosaic on the monument is a pre-revolutionary work made from Ural gemstones. Frolov did not paint the stones but collected them by color, which is why the mosaic has remained almost in perfect condition, although traces of unsuccessful restoration are visible in places.

Mosaicists usually work from sketches, and Frolov was no exception. His work is associated with mourning themes and is often reproduced. It is based on the painting "Isle of the Dead" by German artist Böcklin, where Charon ferries a soul radiating light, and cypress trees, symbols of the afterlife for the Greeks, are visible on the other shore.

Frolov was so talented that he used kinetic painting. If you look at the mosaic in moonlight, you can notice the movement of waves. In the 90s, many would come to the cemetery at night to see this wonder, but now it is impossible, as the cemetery is closed at night.
