General Shteyfon was buried in the German military cemetery in Ljubljana, in block VIII, row 6, grave 16.

On April 29, he held a parade of the Russian Corps in Zagreb, and then went to an all-night vigil, where he had liver problems. After the service, the general returned to the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb, where his headquarters was located.

On Palm Sunday, he lay down to rest and died of a heart attack.
